MATTHEW STUDY
Hello Everyone!!!!!
Come join us in our current remote bible study of the Gosple book of Matthew, Sunday nights 8:30pm ESTJust click HERE to sign up. Once registard a zoom link will be given to you to save and use.
Host: Julian Gonzales – I’m not a pastor or a bible scholar. I’m just someone who loves God with the deepest convictions. This teaching comes from my own studies on Matthew, which includes analyzing teachings from churches, pastors, bible scholars, books, and the scriptures themselves.
Why: My goal is to give those new to the faith or baby Christians, a solid foundation and starting point with basic knowledge of the bible, gospels, and Jesus’ teachings. My hope is that Jesus’s truths and teachings take root in the hearts of all who attend to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Invite: Come join us while we study the book of Matthew and go through the 5 discourses: 1. The Sermon on the Mount (chapters 5-7) 2. The Mission Discourse (chapter 10) 3. The Parabolic Discourse (chapter 13) 4. The Discourse on the Church (chapter 18) 5. The Olivet Discourse (chapters 23-25)
Introduction: The Gospel of Matthew presents Jesus as Israel’s Messiah. The account alternates between Jesus’ activities of healing and casting out demons, and major blocks of his teaching, including the Sermon on the Mount (chs. 5–7), the Parables of the Kingdom (ch. 13), and the Olivet Discourse (chs. 24–25). The Sermon on the Mount includes the Beatitudes (5:3–12) and the Lord’s Prayer (6:5–15). The book closes with the Great Commission (28:18–20). A recurring theme is the conflict between Jesus and the religious leaders, culminating in his pronouncement of “seven woes” upon them (ch. 23). As do all four Gospel accounts, Matthew focuses on Christ’s three-year ministry and his death and resurrection. Matthew probably wrote his Gospel in the 50s or 60s.

Reading Session Overview:
- Reading session will be conducted on Sundays 8:30pm EST via zoom link. Each reading session is estimated to be about 1 hour long.
- Completion of the whole study is unknown. Matthew has 28 chapters and its okay to miss some sessions. You are not required to attend all readings. A little bit of truth is better than no truth.
- If you will not be making it to a reading, I encourage to use the group text to let me know, if more than half can’t make it to the reading session, I will mostly likely cancel that reading session through the group text.
- Every reading session will begin and end with a prayer for the Lord’s guidance and encouragement. From time to time, I will ask if others would like to lead the prayers. Special prayers requests are encouraged.
- You do not have to read any chapters prior to our Sunday studies, all you have to do is SHOW UP. It’s that easy!!!!. It is encouraged to read ahead so that you can meditate on the reading and prepare any questions or comments during our reading session.
- We will all be reading from the same translation (ESV) during our Sunday study sessions. Having your own bible is not necessary for the study. I will be sharing my screen for the readings, so a laptop or mobile device is needed to view the reading material. If you do not have access to a mobile device for viewing, listening on the phone it’s just fine but encourage you follow along with your own bible if possible.
- I recommend and encourage a writing journal for questions, comments, and notes during the reading of Matthew.
- Our session group has a range of people from mature Christians, baby Christians and non-believers. Our group also comes from different age groups, backgrounds, and Christian denominations, so let’s please be sensitive when it comes to different beliefs and teachings between the different denominations.
